WARRIORS SHOWCASE SHOOTOUT
NOVEMBER 27-29, 2009
The 7th Annual Warriors' Showcase Shootout was held November 27 - 29, 2009 in Henryetta, Oklahoma Thanksgiving weekend. This year's tournament featured 73 boys and girls teams, 22 of which were from Mississippi, made up of young, talented, Native American basketball All-Stars from ages five to 14 years old. We are inching our way to our ultimate goal of hosting a tournament to over 100 teams! Our goal with the Warriors' Showcase Shootout is to create an affordable, well organized, family oriented event filled with strong and healthy competition where our Native American youth can showcase their talents and abilities on the hardwood court. New to this year's tournament was the implementation of a three game guarantee, two pool play games and seeding into a single elimination tournament. The winners are as follows: CO-ED - Stunners; 7-8 year old girls - Shootin Stars; 7-8 boys - Lil' Bombers; 9-10 girls - Choctawz; 9-10 boys - Barracudas ; 11-12 girls - Native Starz; 13-14 girls - Lady Running Braves; and 13-14 boys - Running Braves. In conjunction with the tournament, 4 Love of the Game created a charity event to help those less fortunate in the Native American Community. In the past, an Angel Tree Project and Thanksgiving Turkey giveaway was organized. This year over 100 turkeys were given to less fortunate families. 4 Love of the Game has never been, and will never be just about sports.
